HISTORY
The Beaches community started in 1793 and has a long and vibrant history. In the 1870’s it became the summer resort area for the residents of Toronto. In 1932 the Beaches Park opened and there has been no looking back since.
Ben Lamond
was a small community that grew up at the corner of Kingston Road and Benlamond Avenue (now Main Street). The village took its name from two prominent landowners, James Lamond-Smith and Benjamin Morton. A 1880 map shows the two families living beside each other on Benlamond Avenue, with a private park to the south. One of the first public horse-drawn tranways was built along Kingston Road and took people as far

NEIGHBOURHOOD
The Beaches is a well-enjoyed neighbourhood and a popular tourist destination. Known worldwide for its Boardwalk and its sandy Lake Ontario shoreline, shoreline. It is also wonderful, in every season, for great shopping, a cup of coffee with a friend, or simply a nice stroll. The area enjoys a high profile in Toronto’s real estate market and properties
here enjoy a substantial “location’ premium. The avenues are mostly lined with semi-detached and larger Victorian, Edwardian homes from around the 1900 and 1920’s. There are a good number of newer luxury homes too. There are also low-rise apartment buildings and row-houses.
TRANSPORTATION
The 503 Kingston Rd. streetcar route operates between the area of Kinsgston Rd. and Victoria Park Avenue and the area of King Street West and York Street, generally in an east-west direction. It serves the King Station on the Yonge-Unversity-Spadina Subway, and it also passes within one block of the Union and St. Andrews Stations on the Yonge-University-Spadina Subway. Union Station is an accessible subway station.
THE BEACHES PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Beaches Library, an original Carnegie-funded library, received a stunning makeover in 2005 after 90 years in this location.
SCHOOL
boutiqueapratement.ca’s Fallingbrook location is in the Corcelette Public School District. Courcelette serves K to grade 8 and is regarded by many as one of the finer public schools in Toronto. It is a two minute walk from Fallingbrook.
TORONTO HUNT CLUB
The Toronto Hunt Club is a private club owned exclusively by its members. Its spectacular setting, perched high above Lake Ontario on the Scarborough Bluffs, is one of the most unique in Canada. Just minutes from downtown Toronto, the Club hosts a beautiful 9 hole golf course and a full calendar of dining and social activities, including a very active bridge program.
FOX THEATRE
The Fox has been around for decades and still operates today in the Beaches. The Fox is one of the few heritage style movie theatres that still exist in Toronto.
